Terms & Conditions
All equipment is hired under the Construction Plant Hire Association – Conditions of Hire.
We request two forms of identity prior to the start of the hire for first time customers:
- A photo driving licence showing your current address.
- A utility bill
Payments accepted via Bank transfer, cash, or cheque. An invoice will be provided including the necessary bank details.
We hire to both trade and non-trade, if you haven’t operated this sort of equipment before then please advise and we will talk you through the safe operation of the plant and wont leave until you are happy to operate it safely.
It is the customers responsibility to provide their own PPE.
We do not provide insurance or waiver against theft, fire, misuse, or damage to our hire equipment. It is up to the hirer to ensure they have the adequate cover in place to cover them from such events.
If equipment is lost, damaged or stolen during a hire we will request payment to cover the loss of that equipment.
It is recommended that constructors have in place hired in plant insurance and non-trade customers check the terms of their home insurance to make sure they are covered.
The rates for delivery and collection vary with distance. You will be quoted when you place your reservation.
Deliveries are made Monday AM to Saturday AM. (unless otherwise discussed).
Shepton Mallet, and neighbouring villages includes free delivery. Further afield will include a delivery charge.
The customer remains liable for the safe keeping of equipment for 24 hours after the off-hire time/date. Therefore, it is important that equipment is ready for collection and is left in a safe manner. Although, plant and equipment will usually be collected within the hours of the hire agreement ending.
We do on occasion have to charge for machinery that is returned in dirty condition, but we also understand that when it’s wet and muddy onsite it’s nearly impossible to keep things clean. All we ask is customers try their best to return equipment in as clean condition as they can.
In exceptional circumstances there will be a £30 + Vat charge for the cleaning of any machinery that is left in a poor state. (We have only had to implement this twice since 2018).
If you hire an item of plant that is diesel it will arrive with a full tank of WHITE diesel (gas oil). If you are unable to refill the machine with white diesel, then we will charge for the fuel used.
Our current charge for diesel is £1.60p +vat per litre. Same applies for petrol machines.
Customers should take care to ensure that they do not operate the equipment in such a way that it causes damage to overhead power lines, gas, water, power, or telecommunication services.
Customer should ensure that they can provide competent and experienced operators for the equipment that they are hiring. We take no responsibility to damages caused to services using our equipment and we recommend all areas that will be excavated to be CAT scanned prior to any works.
We class 3 to 7 days hire as 1 weeks hire on all plant and equipment.
When hiring on a weekend this will be charged as 2 days hire.
Minimum hire Monday to Friday is 1 day.
